Ukraine-Russia war latest: Trump says Kyiv has ‘no cards to play’ and he is ‘sick’ of Zelen

US President Donald Trump has said Ukraine has no cards to play with as Washington pursues talks on ending the three-year war.

“I’ve been watching for years, and I’ve been watching him negotiate with no cards. He has no cards. And you get sick of it. You just get sick of it. And I’ve had it,” the president told Fox News.

Trump added: “He’s [Zelensky] been at a meeting for three years, and nothing got done. So, I don’t think it’s very important to be at meetings, to be honest with you. He makes it very hard to make deals.”

Later on Friday, the US president said he expects Mr Zelensky to sign a minerals agreement soon. The Ukrainian president said separately that Ukrainian and US teams were working on a draft agreement.

It comes as Trump’s Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg has praised “courageous leader” Volodymyr Zelensky, in a pointed contrast to the vitriolic attacks launched by the US president.
